The Americans Who Think Obama Is Jewish

Questions over President Obama’s religious leanings have been raised frequently since his first White House run four years ago, but a new survey reveals that many Americans mistakenly believe he is Jewish.
President Obama, who is a committed Christian, has faced accusations that he is secretly a Muslim throughout his first time, mostly from right-wing voters.

But an AP survey this week asked more than 1,000 people if they knew the president’s religion – and almost one in five said they thought he was Jewish.

While 28 per cent said they believed him to be a Protestant, and ten per cent repeated the claim that he was a Muslim, 18 per cent said he was Jewish.

Two years ago not a single person surveyed made this mistake. Likewise, none of those polled suggested that his rival for the White House, Mormon Mitt Romney, would be keeping kosher any time soon.
